DJB Danielle 2.0 — Now with more Vitamin C and instant popularity! Silly claims, but it is really a cute font, don’t you think? I was asked on our Font It Up group on Facebook today about my first font, and I honestly can’t remember which one it was! Eight years ago was a very long time ago in Darcy-brain time. But I do know that DJB Danielle 2.0 was one of my very first that I’ve since reworked and improved, adding European characters and fixing rookie mistakes and making it more useful. It’s still one of my very favorite fonts.
I was on Kimberly Geswein’s creative team at the time — back when we were both heavily involved in the scrapbook world and she was starting out as a scrapbook designer with fonts and scrapbook elements and kits. She was going to be taking a break from fonts and helped me get my own business started, training me in how she did fonts so I could go off on my own. We used a few of my co-team members as guinea pigs for me to work on, and invited a few folks to send theirs in so I could create them. I remember getting Danielle’s because it was SO cute and one I would’ve have loved to have in my computer to journal with on my pages. And I was so proud to release it at Blue Flombingo, the first store I sold at run by Karah Fredricks (who is now at The-Lilypad.com). This makes me nostalgic to go back and dig out those older ones and re-release them all (after quite a bit of reworking, mind you!)
Here is my unbelievably embarrassing preview for it, too! I was SOOOOOOOO proud of how catchy this preview was for showing off the fonts I was releasing as a brand new font designer. Now I cringe to see it.
