DJB Fonts Are Now Free*

As of September 1, 2021, DJB Fonts are now free to use in most cases – for personal and commercial use, *except in case of multi-user sites, digitized embroidery design and individual stamps/stickers/dies/cutting machines, etc. Those details are below.

Personal Use:

If you are going to make

  • Scrapbook pages for you or your friends/family
  • Cards given to family and friends
  • Yearbooks
  • Personal Invitations
  • Products you make only for your classroom (and do not sell on sites like TpT)
  • Church bulletins
  • Christmas letters
  • Kids’ school reports
  • Teacher newsletters from the classroom (NOT for your business)
  • Promotions for non-profits

Commercial Use:

Commercial use is generally any use by a business or individual that is intended to generate profit.  This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Scrapbook pages (quick pages) used to sell to others
  • Promotional products made for your business (logos, freebies, product labels, advertisements, etc.)
  • Greeting cards & invitations/baby shower invites sold in craft fairs, Etsy, etc.
  • T-shirts sold for profit or for fundraisers
  • Informational brochures for businesses
  • Newsletters
  • Income-generating blog
  • Blog Designers
  • Logos (which you may copyright, but the typeface, itself, is no copyrighted to you).
  • Books
  • Advertisements, etc.
  • Teacher to teacher products
  • Scrapbook design*
  • If the product you are using the font for is intended to generate income for you in any way, it is for commercial use.

Where can I purchase a License for a Single Use or All the Fonts Use License?

DJB Fonts are now free for both personal and commercial-use licensing except in the cases of:

  • Embroidery machines
  • Recreating Fonts in alphabet format to sell rubber stamps, stickers, molds, metal stamps, etc.
  • Cutting Machines
  • Multi-user interfaces where customers can create their own products using fonts

Digitized Embroidery Commercial Font License

An embroidery font would be a font that you digitally convert into a font family and sell on your embroidery site as a font, not in the products you create with the font (such as T-shirts, bags, etc.).

Terms:

  • You must keep the same name as the original DJB font
  • You may not redistribute the original .ttf file
  • The font must not be available for sale by your customers
  • Licensing fee is per font used

Server/Designer Commercial License

A special designer/server license is required for those sites where the end user can design their own product such as photobooks, business cards/logos, apparel and print it out or have the final product delivered to them. The price is per font used and is perpetual to a site.
